Figured this out -- was using "Play on Eden" shortcut, Ashita needed to be launched directly from the PlayOnline/Ashita exe.
Closing but leaving it up for anyone else who has the issue.

Ashita should not be installed to that folder to begin with. (You should not be placing Ashita anywhere in Program Files/Program Files (x86).)
Ashita should be installed to C:\Ashita\ for best results.
On newer systems, such as Windows 8 or 10 you will have issues running from Program Files due to permissions related things. If you create a shortcut, make sure you are running it as admin. (Right-click > Run as Administrator)
